WHEN TO USE THIS DOCUMENT
This agreement is for use for the sale of a website and all its contents with a domain name. It is suitable for use with most domain names but not those which end with .co.uk (please see our other documents). So you can use it for domain names ending with, for example,
.biz
.com
.info
.net
.org
The sale agreement allows the party who currently owns the website and domain name (the Transferor) to sell / transfer a website and domain name to the other party (the Transferee). Usually, the transferee makes a payment to the transferee. It does not matter how much the payment is.
The parties agree the basic terms of about the sale, including how the price will be paid and how the transfer will actually take place and confirms roles and responsibilities. You have guidance in the document so that you can customise it to meet the specific needs of the sale / transfer.
You can also customise the agreement to include or exclude the transferor giving the transferee technical advice and help for an agreed limited period of time as part of the sale / transfer.
You can also include a restriction so that the transferor (seller) can not build and run a similar website for an agreed period of time e.g. not for 6 months from the date of the sale / transfer.
