LETTING AGREEMENT - STORAGE UNIT

WHEN TO USE THIS DOCUMENT

 This agreement is for use when the owner of a storage unit (the landlord) wants to rent out that storage unit to one or more tenants. It is important that the landlord has a written agreement with the tenant which outlines what the tenant’s obligations and responsibilities are.

 This agreement deals with basic issues such as how long the letting will be for and what rent is to be paid, how it will be paid etc and what happens if the rent is not paid. It also clarifies the tenant’s responsibilities and what can and can not be done in the storage unit.

 It outlines the landlord’s and the tenant’s responsibilities and obligations with regard to insurance, maintenance and locks.

 The document is intended to protect both the landlord and the tenant so that everybody is aware of their obligations and responsibilities.

WHAT DOES IT CONTAIN?

 The usual information you would expect to see in letting agreement like this which you customise, including:-

• Agreement basics – how long for etc.
• Rent – how much and when it will be paid.
• What happens if rent is not paid (landlord’s re-entry rights).
• Insurance responsibilities.
• Who maintains what – including the locks.

• Termination – ending the agreement.
